Milena Mathie: Australian Art Textiles

As a Textile Artist, Designer and Maker, I have had a life-long passion with textiles and fabrics. Design in all kinds of textile art fascinate and delight me. The painter who inspires me constantly is Claude Monet, The Impressionist artist.

Landscape, colour and light are my constant companions in the design of my textile art pieces. Shibori, silk fusion, lino printing, dyeing, and surface embellishment are amongst the techniques I use to create my own palette of unique hand made art textiles from which I design a range of bags, silk scarves, textured wraps, wall quilts and collages.

Australia is a country of extraordinary and varied land and seascape and its astonishing variety provides me with endless inspiration. My designs the colours and forms I use reflect the land in which I live.
